WOMEN ARE THE CENTER OF THEIR HOME”(PART 5)

Dear Sisters,

Today we’re going to discuss the last topic in our series which is “Are You Spending Enough Time Meditating on the Word of God? I realize some of the topics have been a bit lengthy, but I wanted you to get a better understanding of how detailed our duties are as women.   Being the center of your home and touching all the lives that are in the midst is a great task, so never see yourself as unimportant. You are a great asset to the growth, and maturity of those around you.  For this reason, you need to spend adequate time in the presence of the Lord.  It’s during those moments, the Holy Spirit will guide you on what steps to take, to resolve any pending issues in the home.  Whether it’s guidance with rearing the children, or how to help your husband relax after a tiring day at work. During your time in the word and in prayer, you will also become refreshed and strengthen so you can continue being the best you can be in fulfilling your role.

As modern-day believers in Jesus Christ, we have God’s instructions for life in the Holy Bible.  We are to meditate in that Word so we will be familiarized with what the LORD expects of us as believers, and how we are to live our lives to please Him.  When Jesus was here on earth, He taught His followers all the things the Father instructed, and much of that is written in the Holy Bible for us to read and learn as well.  Some of the Apostles He appointed, wrote letters and epistles to various churches that were established by them on many issues, and problems some of the believers were experiencing, as well as how to handle them with wisdom from God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”   As you see in this scripture, God inspired men to write the scriptures in the Bible, it’s not just a book full of stories.  All the words that have been complied as a specific purpose, which is to transform the lives of mankind; delivering him from the powers of darkness that are under the rule of the god of this world [satan].  As you see above the word is good for reproof, correction and instructions in righteousness; that we can become perfect, unto all good works!

Proverbs 1:23 says, “turn you at my reproof: Behold I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.”  If we don’t hearken to the Word and be obedient to what the Lord ask of us, we will only bring destruction upon our own selves. (Continue reading from Verse 24 to 32)   Lastly verse 33 says, “But who so hearkened unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”   If we obey God’s instructions we will dwell in safety, and shall not fear of any kind of evil, because we will learn how to rest in knowing God’s watchful eye is upon us.

Titus 2:11-14 says“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of our great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”   Do you see this, if these words were not written for you to read, you would have no knowledge of why Jesus came and died for you and I.  Also, the plan God Almighty designed to save a people, and call them His own; He prepared this way for us by sending His Son Jesus to die for us. We should be ever so grateful to Him for being such a loving Father, and more than thankful to Jesus for the sacrifice He made through His death on the cross.

If you don’t take the time to read the Word of God, how are you going to know what is expected of you?  The things that are sinful bringing curses on your life, or the things that are good and honorable causing blessings to follow and overtake you?   It’s very important for us to find out these things so we can learn how to walk in the fullness of the things of God.  So, God can begin to use us here on earth to do His will, by drawing others into His kingdom.

Here are some of His instructions:

James 1:19-27 says, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be righteous, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.  Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

As you read the Word of God and you come across something you are doing, and it displeases God, repent immediately, ask God to forgive you, because now that you know it’s sinful and you continue to do it, you’re being disobedient to God, which makes you a hearer only and not a doer of the Word.  You want to get to the point in your walk with God, that you’re able to read the word, and make the adjustments in your life that will transform you into who God want you to become.  This is the type of attitude we should strive to have, so take the time to keep working on you.

All these scriptures as well as many others in the Bible, are very important for you to reflect and meditate on so you will understand and realize that the Words in the Bible will give you a good life if you allow them to bring about a change within you.

Meditation on the Word requires you to stop and think about what you have just read, and try to understand what is being said.  Don’t just rush through the verses as if you’re reading a storybook. These Words, if understood and assessed to glean the godly wisdom from them will change your life, and the life of those who come in contact with you as well.   If you truly love the members of your household, you need to set aside special time in the morning as well as in the night to meditate on the word, and commune with God. Through constant meditation you will become a doer of the Word, because you will begin to remember what you have read and it will keep you from sinning against the Lord. Then you will begin to see the goodness of God flowing in your life, and working out things in your family as well.

Ephesians 5:26-27 says, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”   We believers are the bride of Christ, and the Word of God is the instrument that will cleanse us from all the sinful things of this world that have defiled us, making us pure and holy a people acceptable unto the Lord, His Bride, the Church.  You must ask yourself if you desire to be His Bride?  If so, you have all that you need to make this possible within the Word of God!

Therefore, our end results from reading and meditating in the Word, as we obey it and remove from our life those things we read that are displeasing to God, and we continue to live a life pleasing to Him, we will eventually become like Him.  We will develop a willingness to allow His word to wash away the filth from our lives, and change us to the likeness of His dear Son, bringing us from glory to glory in Him.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 says“Now the LORD is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

To give you a final word,

Psalm 2:1-3 says it all, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Let us pray,

Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for choosing me to be your daughter, and giving me time to learn of You.  Give me a heart that will be obedient to You, and a desire to read Your Word every day.   Help me to understand Your Word and live to obey You.  Strengthen me as I continue to walk with You, help me to utilize what I learn to enrich my family.  Father, help me to teach my children what I learn from Your word.   I ask all these prayers in Jesus mighty name.  Amen.  Thank you, Lord for answering my prayers.  Amen.
